Encinitas Community Garden
At the heart of Encinitas, the Encinitas Community Garden thrives as a bustling center for local garden enthusiasts. Our garden serves as a communal space where residents unite to cultivate sustainable fruits and vegetables while exploring Eco-conscious gardening methods. Our ultimate goal is to encourage horticulture, nurture community bonds, and motivate individuals to adopt a healthy way of life.
The Encinitas Community Garden was officially incorporated as a non-profit organization in 2009. With the help of generous volunteers such as, Doug Long, Agnes Maufit, Michael Murphy, Sandy Shapiro, Gordon Smith, Elizabeth Taylor, and other community members began working together to establish a communal space for gardening and education. After a collaborative effort involving the Encinitas Union School District and numerous volunteers, the garden became a reality, offering 120 raised garden bed plots and fostering a strong sense of community among its members.

Members are encouraged to grow a variety of organic fruits, vegetables, and flowers in their garden plots. We promote sustainable gardening practices, so the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers is prohibited. Some popular plants grown by our members include tomatoes, lettuce, carrots, strawberries, and various herbs. Keep in mind that some plants may have specific growing requirements, so be sure to research and plan accordingly. Members are also encouraged to share their gardening knowledge and experience with others in the community to promote a collaborative learning environment.
